Wheelchair tennis returns to open, champions defend titles
www.usopen.org —
The wheelchair tournament returned the US Open after a year hiatus; last year’s Paralympic Games were played in Beijing. And all the singles champions from two years ago ended up successfully defending their titles. In the women’s tournament, top-seeded Esther Vergeer won her fourth US Open title with 6-0, 6-0 win over No. 2 Korie Horman. She has now won 374 straight matches. Her last loss was in 2003.
