It will be the 2nd edition of the tournament and will be played at the Queensland Tennis Centre in Tennyson, Brisbane. The centre court, Pat Rafter Arena is named in honour of Australian tennis hero Patrick Rafter. It will run from January 3 to January 10.[1] It is part of the Australian Open Series in preparation for the first grandslam of the year.

It is currently part of the World Tour 500 Series of the ATP Tour. It is held annually at the St. Jakobshalle in Basel, Switzerland, in October, since 1995.
